| Point to Point update 19 February |
|
The good news is that all the point to point riders are still in one piece three months into the season - greatly helped by the fact that so many meetings have been cancelled. The statistics so far stand at 3 wins (courtesy of Claire and Big Moment), 2 URs/falls (courtesty of Fenton and Choo-Choo, and Claire), and a smattering of placings. Meanwhile Anthony and Neil have contrived to ensure that so long as they are in the race the other jockeys won't be last. Claire and Big Moment tipped up when looking to have the race in the bag (and a fourth win in a row) when four from home at Cottenham, and Claire was very unlucky to miss out by a head on Top Ram in the Ladies Open at Higham after giving him an excellent ride on his first outing over fences. This weekend looks to be a busy one with Launde running in the Ubique Hunter Chase at Sandown on Friday (with Ryan Bliss onboard), and Neil and Fenton both in action on Sunday at Badbury Rings. With that in mind, I gather that there have been rumours that Frensham cricket club, renowned for their competitive performances, have warned Fenton that unless he raises the bar on this efforts in the saddle they may soon be asking him to change his colours from their distinctive Maroon and Yellow to something less striking (think Man Utd's grey away colours for the 1995-96 season in which they failed to win a single away game!). |
