About Us

THE TRAINER

Chris has long held an ambition to take out a full training licence having performed that function along side his wife jenny in point to points when based at Simon Tindall's yard near Mayfield, during this period they trained 70 winners.  In all Chris rode some 150 winners including the John Corbett hunterchase and Jenny just short of 50 including the Horse and Hound Cup.

Their first runners at Fontwell in November 2007 provided them with a dream of a day. A creditable third to be followed on the same card with a winner in Quarrymount ridden by Colin Bolger.

They both realise that a welcoming approach and communication with owners is an important part of the job and certainly Morestead is a happy yard for owners and horses alike.

STAFF

The Team

"We are lucky to have a nucleus of four reliable lads and Carley" says Chris.
"When we are away racing or the sales, I can always be confident that everything is in order at home"

 Ram

PADAMARAN SONERAM NAI- came to us from trainer Jim Old. Ram is a great worker and loves his horses. He also cooks his 'master' at least one curry a week!

 Carley

CARLEY FISH- began working at Morestead when Brendan Powell was in his socond year in 2002. She preferred to remain here rather than move to Lambourn and works mornings for us. This fits in with her other job in a hotel.

Charlie CHARLIE WALLIS- The yard conditional.  Rode a winner on his first ride for us - he still claims a very useful 7lbs.
Madan MADAN LAL- Ram's Brother.  A valuable member of the team.
CraigCRAIG  BEVAN- the yard amateur.  Came to us from the racing school and has been here over a year - soon to have his first fide!
LesLES THE TRACTOR MAN- looks after the gallops and schooling facilities, we could not do without him
LOUISE WRIGHT - rides out week days

We are lucky to have enthusiastic work riders who come in several times a week. Some are point-to-point owner riders. Also notable is Viktoria Panizzon, the Italian three day Olympic team member who was placed above the mighty Mark Todd in Hong Kong recently.

JOCKEYS  - Colin Bolger, Charlie Studd and Rodi Green are frequent visitors to the yard where they school and work the horses as necessary.

FARRIER -  Nigel Fennell who has been on the England Shoeing team a number of times and John Howett

VET - Stable Close Equine Practice, we have a very good working relationship with Malcom Morley one of the partners.

CHIROPRACTOR - Caitlin Hayes who we have used for many years with great results
